Handyman & Odd Jobs

The list that never gets done. Flat-pack assembly, shelving, blinds, sticking doors, gates, clotheslines and the small repairs no one else will turn up for.

Most households have a running list. A door that has never shut properly since the house moved. Shelves still in the box. A gate that drags. None of it is urgent, all of it is annoying, and none of it is worth calling a specialist trade for.

What we take on

Flat-pack assembly, shelving and storage, blinds and curtain rails, door adjustments and hardware, clotheslines and letterboxes, gates and latches, patching and gap-filling, fixture mounting, and the general repairs that accumulate around a house.

Save the list up

The economics of handyman work reward batching. A single visit that clears eight items costs a fraction of eight separate call-outs, so write the list as things annoy you and call when it is worth a visit.

What needs someone else

Electrical, plumbing, drainage, gasfitting and air conditioning always require a licensed trade in NSW, with no dollar threshold. That includes jobs that sound minor — replacing a light fitting, moving a tap, adding a power point. We will tell you when something falls into that category rather than doing it anyway.

Common questions

Is there a minimum charge?
There is a minimum call-out, which is why it is worth saving jobs up. Most people have a list rather than a single item, and doing five things in one visit costs far less than five separate visits.
What can't you do?
Anything requiring a licensed trade. Electrical work, plumbing, drainage, gasfitting and air conditioning always need a licensed contractor in NSW regardless of how small the job is. Swapping a light fitting or moving a tap is not a handyman job, whatever anyone tells you.
Do you do rental and strata work?
Yes, a good share of our work is for landlords and managing agents — condition-report items, end-of-lease make-good and reactive repairs. See the property maintenance page for how that runs.
How far do you travel?
Helensburgh down to Batemans Bay. Jobs at the southern end get grouped through the week so the travel is not passed on to you as a premium.
